Assured Guaranty Ltd. (AGL or, together with its subsidiaries, Assured Guaranty) is a Bermuda-based holding company whose subsidiaries provide credit enhancement products to the capital markets through its three principal insurance subsidiaries: Assured Guaranty Corp. Assured Guaranty Corp., which began operations in 1988, is a Maryland-domiciled financial guaranty insurance company licensed in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It is a direct financial guaranty company and is focused on structured finance and public finance markets. AGC has insurer financial strength ratings of AAA from Standard & Poor’s and Aa3 from Moody's Investors Service. AGC has a similarly rated U.K. subsidiary, Assured Guaranty (UK) Ltd., which is regulated by the Financial Services Authority of the United Kingdom and authorized to write insurance in most countries in the European Economic Area.
Assured Guaranty Municipal Corp. is the new name of Financial Security Assurance Inc., which Assured Guaranty acquired in July 2009. Assured Guaranty Re Ltd. is a Bermuda Class 3 insurer authorized to write general and long-term business, specializing in financial guaranty reinsurance. AG Re has insurer financial strength ratings of AA from Standard & Poor’s and A1 from Moody’s Investors Service. |
