Assured Guaranty and its subsidiaries are committed to the financial guaranty market, providing investors, issuers, financial institutions and our other counterparties with the assurance of timely payment of principal and interest on the financial obligations that we guarantee. The Company has been active in the financial guaranty industry since 1988, when Assured Guaranty Corp. underwrote its first financial guaranty reinsurance contract. More than 19 years later, Assured Guaranty is a leading provider of financial guaranty insurance and reinsurance to the U.S. and global capital markets. Assured Guaranty’s operations are organized into two principal segments: financial guaranty direct and financial guaranty reinsurance.
Assured Guaranty’s financial guaranty direct operations are led by Mike Schozer, President of Assured Guaranty Corp., our principal underwriting company. Assured Guaranty Corp. is focused on providing triple-A rated credit enhancement to the mortgage- and asset-backed securities, public finance, structured finance and structured credit markets. In addition, Assured Guaranty (UK) Ltd., its London-based subsidiary, is active in the private finance initiative (PFI), public-private partnership (PPP) and other project finance markets in Europe.
Assured Guaranty’s financial guaranty reinsurance operations are led by David Penchoff, President and Chief Operating Officer of Assured Guaranty Re Ltd., our principal reinsurance company. Assured Guaranty Re is solely focused on the financial guaranty reinsurance marketplace, providing underwriting capacity for both Assured Guaranty Corp. and for most of the other leading financial guaranty insurance companies, including Ambac Assurance, Financial Guaranty Insurance Company and Financial Security Assurance.
